Ready Set Spray's Pre-Construction Termite Barriers
A physical termite barrier is built into the structure, not sprayed around it. Installed while the slab is still going down, it blocks the concealed paths termites use to get from the soil into your framing — up through construction joints, around plumbing penetrations and behind the perimeter edge — and forces any activity out into the open where an inspection will find it.
Because it's a physical system rather than a chemical one, it doesn't rely on a termiticide staying in the soil, and it doesn't need re-treating on a chemical's timetable. New dwellings in NSW need a termite management system to AS 3660.1, and a physical barrier is the option most certifiers and councils are happiest to sign off on.
The other reason to do it now is cost. Laying membrane and collars on an open slab bed is a fraction of the work of retrofitting protection to a finished building, where the same coverage means trenching, drilling and patching around everything that has since been built on top. Sheet Membrane Systems
Termite-resistant sheeting laid under the slab and up the perimeter before the pour, lapped and sealed so there's no concealed route from the soil into the building. It goes down with the vapour barrier and adds no time to your program.
Stainless-Steel Mesh
Marine-grade woven mesh with an aperture too fine for termites to pass through and too tough for them to chew. Used at slab edges, penetrations and cavity lines where a durable, permanent physical block is needed.
Penetration Collars
Every pipe, conduit and service that comes up through the slab gets a collar sealed to both the penetration and the barrier. Unsealed penetrations are the single most common way termites get into an otherwise well-protected new home.
Construction Joint Protection
Where concrete is poured in stages, the cold joint between pours is a ready-made gap. We run barrier material through those joints and around control joints so the finished slab reads as one continuous protected surface.
